The bitcoin market provides thorough coverage to almost every sphere of life; aviation businesses also grabbed this excellent chance. Airlines now accept cryptocurrency payments due to Bitcoin’s rising popularity, notably in the travel industry. Many airlines now accept cryptocurrencies as payment, including Bitcoin, Litecoin, ETH, XRP etc. Airlines have developed a significant interest in the bitcoin sector and are now accepting cryptocurrency payments due to the rising demand from customers. 1. AirBaltic

The 60 locations throughout Europe, the Middle East, Russia, and the CIS are serviced by the Latvian airline airBaltic, which became the first airline in 2014 to accept Bitcoin as payment. On its website, airBaltic offers Bitcoin as payment for flight tickets. The webpage lists the cost of the flight tickets in euros. Customers of airBaltic pay for their flights using Bitcoins, which are then exchanged for euros at the going rate. 

AirBaltic collaborated with Bitpay, a third-party payment processor that translates Bitcoins into euros, to make accepting Bitcoin possible. The Bitcoin payment option is available to purchase the cheapest airline ticket as a Basic AirBaltic ticket.

2. LOT Polish Airlines

In 2015, the virtual currency Bitcoin became acceptable as payment for tickets on LOT Polish Airlines. The LOT mobile app and the carrier’s website support these bitcoin payments. LOT Polish Airlines accepts the digital currency Bitcoin as payment for tickets. LOT is few of the only European airlines that accept cryptocurrencies as payment methods.

3. CheapAir.com

It was one of the first online travel agencies in 2013 to accept Bitcoin payments. Litecoin, BCH, Dash, Bitcoin, and Ethereum are accepted as payment options, demonstrating development and taking a further step. These coins are accepted for use in flight and hotel payments by tourists.

4. Virgin Galactic

Founded in 2004, Virgin Galactic is a spaceflight company based in California, USA. The company specialises in making commercial space crafts and aims to provide special spaceflights. Unlike airline companies, it is more of a spaceflight company. In 2013, the company started accepting Bitcoin for its commercial space flight bookings. 

5. Surf Air

A Los-Angeles based aviation company named Surf-Air is also among the few travel companies to offer cryptocurrency payments. The airline company serves five airports in California. It was founded in 2013, and since then, it has acquired some more businesses, named Blackbird and Ampaire, aiming to expand its services area. Surf Air started accepting Bitcoin and Ethereum payments in 2017.

6. Travala.com

Travala.com is a leading blockchain-based platform for booking more than 3 million travel products online. The products include flights, accommodations, destinations, and activities worldwide.
